a south dakota scene

A lot of folks think South Dakota is a flat, relatively featureless prairie, a place of pitiless winters and hot dry summers. It is that, sometimes, but it can be a lovely place as well. These are scenes from Duel County in Eastern South Dakota.

I grew up on the east central plains of South Dakota. I frequently hear comments from people who are not Dakotans that the state is "boring". I disagree and your photos show an example of why I disagree. Every time I cross the border into the state, I feel a rush of freedom from constraints of nature. The sky and the world open up to me and I am happy.
